U.S.T.A. Groups and Committees

U.S.T.A. Tournament Group
The tournament group is open to all interested competitors. The purpose of this group will be special sparring instruction seminars. Attention and detail will be given not only to physical tournament preparation but also winning techniques, psychological aspects, peak performance via training and nutrition, and competition rules review. Competitors will be encouraged to develop a team sprit and winning attitude, coupled with humility and respect for all competitors. The Tournament group will provide the ability to attend tournaments locally, at the State level, National level, International level and also tournaments held in Korea with teams and competitors from around the world.

U.S. Eagles National Demonstration Team
Younger members will learn to "fly" and perform acrobatic martial arts moves, breaking techniques, and seemingly impossible stunts you see only in the movies, but without wires or cgi. U.S. Eagle Team Member can include mature members for spectacular hand and foot breaking and team spirit techniques. Team members of all ages will learn to do things they never thought possible. Commitment, good attendance, and hard work are required. U.S Eagle Team Members will have the opportunity to do demonstrations throughout the Nation.

U.S.T.A. Tae Kwon Do Tournament Committee
On this committee you will learn how to prepare for and manage U.S.T.A. sanctioned Tournament competitions for your school or group of schools and any Inter-school tournament competitions. This committee is responsible for the success of the tournament and more importantly tournament operations, officiating, promotion, sportsmanlike environment as well as all organizational paperwork and official scoring and awards regulation. Your school and students can enjoy the benefits of developing leadership skills and enjoying fellowship with fellow students, while improving their abilities in a friendly competitive environment run in a professional manner. This committee will consist of U.S.T.A. schools and Masters that wish to hold tournaments locally, at the State level, Nationally, and Internationally.

U.S.T.A. Referee Committee
Officiating at Tae Kwon Do tournaments is also a significant responsibility. As part of this committee you conduct Referee Seminars and allow certification as U.S.T.A. Referees for Black Belts as follows:

U.S.T.A. Referee Status Breakdown -

  • 1st Dan W.T.F : can achieve a "C" class status beginning with 3rd class status, moving to 2nd then 1st class "C level Referee".
  • 2nd and 3rd Dan W.T.F. : can achieve "B" class 3rd, 2nd, and 1st class "B level Referee" status
  • 4th Dan W.T.F. and higher : can achieve "A" class 3rd, 2nd, and 1st class "A level Referee" status and then be allowed to attend a W.T.F. International Referee Seminar and become an "International Referee" for the W.T.F..

With formal training you can become a certified (United States Tae Kwon Do Association) referee, and will then be qualified to participate in all United States Tae Kwon Do Association sanctioned tournaments. With Referee seminar training, and participation in U.S.T.A. events, you can advance your Referee class and status all the way to becoming and official W.T.F. International Referee and be allowed to wear the yellow suit and officiate at International W.T.F. tournament competitions held around the world. U.S.T.A. Referee Committee members must be 18 years old or older, however "junior referees" will be trained to be certified and receive ranking upon their 18th birthday. International W.T.F. Referee's must be at least 25 years old.

U.S.T.A (W.T.F. approved) Testing Committee
Promotional testing is conducted to verify the continued progress and improvement of Tae Kwon Do Students and Black Belts. As a member of the U.S.T.A. Testing committee you will participate in organizing, staffing, and judging these events for your school as defined by the Kukkiwon and W.T.F. in Korea. As mentioned an official W.T.F. Instructors seminar held later this year will allow you to conduct your certifications as an official W.T.F. recognized Instructor. The actions of this committee will set the standards for the next generation of W.T.F. approved colored belts, Black Belts, Instructors, and Master Instructors. Committee members must be 18 years of age or older. Junior Testing Committee members can participate and be certified upon their 18th birthday.

U.S.T.A Instructor Committee (Kukkiwon Standards) Masters and Black Belts hone their skills in Tae Kwon Do, to develop the ability to teach other students, Black Belts, and Master and build exceptional leadership skills for their school and community. Potential committee members must maintain accuracy of technique, level of respect set forth by the W.T.F. and the U.S.T.A. and proper etiquette (in and out of the studio) will be standard. Committee members must maintain high standards for themselves and the students, thereby achieving Assistant Instructor certification (1st Dan), Instructor certification (2nd & 3rd Dan) and even Master level (4th Dan +) certification by the W.T.F.. Junior Instructors must be at least 14 years of age.
